Not sure what the prize will be with this thread, but it will be worth it. Again, not a thread that is judged, rather a thread where you just share a landscape photo from your 2014 season and you will be entered into the drawing.

RULES:

1. 2014 season only.

2. It can be with or without a person. Just no dead critters. Dead critters are for the other threads.

3. After season is over, we will draw a winner by random. No limit on the amount of pics you post, but ..... ONLY ONE PIC PER POST.

4. AND, YOU MUST TELL THE STORY THAT SUPPORTS THE PIC(s) YOU POST.

I'll start.

Archery elk hunt in Northern Utah. Once again, the elk have won. So damn close. I am wonder what it will take to get off the "schnide" on these archery hunts. 18 yards and between me and the camera, we cannot find a shooting lane that makes good TV. A good effort given and some great bulls encountered. I wish I was not on another five year wait.

My son has enough points for an early rifle tag here. Wonder if I can convince him to let me join him on such a great hunt?

This is in the Wyoming Beartooths. One of those rare moments in the morning that the wind wasn't blowing. It is always awesome in the morning but this morning was special. NO BUGS.

Up in the Alaska Range high country. We just watched two rams go over the ridge, unable to follow. Rather than be in a hurry to get back down to the river bottom and back to camp, we figured we'd check the rest of the world out from above.

I didn't have a real camera so all my pics are from my iPhone. This one was taken along the Continental Divide in southern Colorado. This is about 6 miles from the trailhead. I had to sit down a moment and just take in the beauty of the country I was so privileged to see on this trip. I didn't ge,t to shoot an elk but I enjoyed the trip tremendously.

2014 Photo contest

So I took this picture on the last night of my Wyoming archery hunt, actually Thursday, September 25th, the last archery hunt of 2014 for me. Love this country!

Archery Mule Deer hunt North West Nevada. One of the many great sunsets we saw on the hunt.

Great photos, so much so, that I feel intimidated to even post mine. Sunset of my first day hunting Africa and my only hunt so far in 2014. We were looking for kudu and the day ended without a shot fired, but it had been filled with many 'first evers' in Africa. Luckily my wife was upset that she didn't get to go, so that makes a return trip much more likely.

WOW...

I think we should take some of these photos and make a HT calendar.

This photo was on the desert east of my house while out coyote hunting. Sometimes I get caught up and forget that I live in such a beautiful place.

An evening sunset on my archery elk hunt in Washington in the Umatilla National Forest. A cold front was moving in and the evening clouds had some spectacular flair to them.

Two days of rain greeted me on my archery elk hunt this year, but there was a break in the rain on the second morning long enough for a rainbow to appear. The rainbow was much brighter than it shows in the photo, but such is the result when your only camera is on your phone.

I have to admit that this is from my last *honey-do* prior to heading out on the 9th. Wife wanted to get back to the WA'OR coast before the weather crapped out. On the way home we spent three nights with relatives at their place in Powell Butte, Oregon. Spent the time in mornings and evenings watching the deer in their pasture and listening to the yotes off and on during the night. Unfortunately our trailer was dead center.

Pot-O-Gold

There must have been a leprechaun "stealin' all me-lucky charms" cause there was no elk at the bottom of this rainbow. We heard a few bugles, but the elk were sitting tight in the thickets...not much elk talk at all.

When you don't get the result you had hoped for on a hunting trip, sights light this make (most of) the disappointment go away! No elk meat in the freezer this year, but more priceless memories added to the bank! This picture was taken in the Little Belts on 9/26.
