Ross earning his share of the meat-

What a great hunt! Great story and pics. Congrats to all!

I hope Gerald has some photos that give some perspective of the body size of this beast. When you see him bedded next to the other billy, a very good billy, you will see just how much bigger he is
Truly a tank of a goat, in body size. My jaw dropped when we walked up to him and saw just how big he was.

Ross headed down the channel. Glad he was so excited to carry an entire life size cape, head, and horns. Pretty sure my candy-ass CPA legs couldn't have handled it.

The old and the new; A time-tested Crew Cab and a Gen2 Metcalf, both loaded and ready to go. I can say that with all that meat and half my camp, the descent to the trailhead that evening was not as uncomfortable as I had expected. The mental struggle of knowing we had to ascend back to camp that evening, through the wet dead fall, much of it in the dark, was weighing on my mind more than the load was weighing on my back.

The tools of the trade - A Howa Alpine Mountain rifle, the first one off the factory line; 7mm-.08. Topped with a Leupold VX-3 CDS. One 300 yard shot with a 140 grain bullet and the story was quickly over. When you see the footage and realize the small window Randy had, both in terms of space and time, you will see one hell of a shot under very challenging conditions.

Quality tools ensure a quality job. Randy11 did his part. The tools did theirs. (Rifle, scope and bullet being the tools. Not the hunting partners.)

Since Randy11 was now a famous TV star, he directed his minions in the dissection of his goat.

Too bad pics/video cannot do justice to the landscape or its inhabitants. These will have to suffice.
My feeble attempts added to the collage.

Holy scnikes! That is an absolutely ginormous goat.... Wow!

The shit eating grin on Randy's face pretty much says it all, what a neat story. Can't wait to watch the show.

After packing the billy to the truck, Big Fin, Ross and I returned to camp. Randy11 had been beating the goat tenderloins with a rock since we left and prepared us a gourmet meal of fire-roasted tenderloin seasoned to perfection with Lowry's seasoned salt. After trying to keep up with Big Fin on the hike out and back, I was surprised to see our rock hard host show a tiny bit of marshmallo in his character. Pleading extensive experience with trying to get his teeth to masticate goat sinew and the importance of limiting his protein intake due to his liver condition, he headed off to bed while the rest of the crew tucked in to a feast of goat tenderloin. I am happy to report it was very palatable, even borderline delicious.
