Wyoming Spring Turkey?

You are the turkey master of CA and have them in your backyard. What the hell you want to go halfway across the country for?

I'd love to go try to shoot them out of your back yard again (hopefully leaving your blind free of holes this time) but homey don't play cross country treks for turkeys.

Mostly Rios' we do have some Merriams in a few small spots and a what they call a Hybrid...We get some pretty good tail fan colors out here which is nice! Birds I've killed in the past or just shot with the camera...

Nate anytime you want to come back up...

Be careful what you ask for Ike man. Double Bull is making a new "Swiss cheese" model just for me.

Those are some nice birds! We only have Easterns here in PA, but If i have it my way in the next year or so i hope to to be neck deep in western game species (that's if I get any of the jobs i applied for). Thanks for sharing

Have you thought about going into the Black Hills of SD for your Merriams? The last time I went a couple years ago the tag was $85 and it's OTC and a nice lengthy season. You could even do Wyoming and SD on one trip and get more than one bird on your trip . There is a million or two acres of National Forest in SD and the bird numbers are excellent..

Nice pics!
SD Merriams do seem to be more true White including fan tips. Black Hills have a lot of birds and a lot of pressure. I got tired of chasing them and moved to plains in Meade Co but it is all private land and tied up by outfitters. I found Grant Simons out of White Owl to be very reasonable and me and my party of five have hunted with him twice with 100%. He is booked up for 2011 but if you are interested, he books exclusively thru [email protected] As I remember , $800 for three day hunt, room and three meals a day, on site transportation and airport pick up and delivery to Rapid if needed. Second bird is $250 more. He scouts general area, tells you where he has seen birds and you DIY after that.

Yes, SD is on the 'ta-do' list...Thanks for the info!

Ike,
Please don't come to Idaho for your Merriams............they've all become mutts! It's a real treat to see or whack a nice cream tailed bird these days.

Tom---It's funny that you mention pressure in the Black Hills! I've been out there 3 or 4 times between the general area of Custer and Mount Rushmore and have hardly seen anybody out there during the turkey season. What area were you talking about if I might ask?

Montanas got some white tips on most. Some creamy white some pure white.here are a few pure white.
