I took a 10 mile hike this weekend through some of best mule deer habitat you can find. I saw 3 mule deer, not too long ago you would see 100’s. Enjoy your season, it’s the best you will ever see.

One of the local biologist wants to break up one of the big "simplifications" he was instructed to implement because it's too big of a unit to manage now. It's too late for the change but it'll add more confusion to the mess for 2024. Funny because that was the exact comment I made when it was first proposed and he still moved forward with it.

A hunting partner told me he was thinking of not applying for an elk permit, and just buying a point. I suggested him putting in for unit 380, as it's the same thing as buying a point. Looks like I'll be spending a lot of time in the Elkhorns this year.

That’s already covered by people able to purchase 2 preference points if they are going with an outfitter. The odds are better with 2 points compared to 0 points so it isn’t the guide and outfitter that benefits from the allocation to zero point holders.
