New Mexico unit 7

I drew my first elk tag in unit 7 New mexico first rifle. I'm excited to get after some bulls. Does anyone have any tips for this unit? I planned to hunt La Ventana Mesa or Mesa Portales. Also how are the rattle snakes, bears and mountain lions in this area? Thanks for any help

Guys will be tight lipped since you only have 2 posts. Ill give you my 2 cents. I would grab a bugle tube and hunt the jicarilla border.
