I'm heading up to Montana this week for the last week of rifle general elk/deer. The unit by my parent's house has over the counter (up to 5 per person) Whitetail doe tags - archery only.
If I'm able to tag out on my general rifle tags, I was thinking about buying a couple of these doe tags. I have never hunted Whitetail does with a bow before. I've done a little searching and can't seem to find any information. Am I crazy to think I'll get close enough to a doe to be in bow range this time of year? You can't really call them in can you? I don't have access to private land, but there are some good Block Management Areas in this archery-only HD.
I'm thinking if I can get some recon on the area from my dad and at least have an idea of where they might be bedding/feeding, I could set up in some cover and wait.
Any input is appreciated!
