Had the same thing happen to me last year with my buck at 70 yards. Didn't count for the cross wind and the arrow hit the hind quarters. Caught the femoral artery and he made it about 600 yards. Ray Charles could of followed the blood trail.

The first deer I ever shot was a small buck and I hit it in the hind quarters- it covered less ground than a lot of deer I've double lunged or shot through the heart. It was a terrible shot, but like mentioned above- I cut the femoral artery and it didn't take long.
