Anyone ever hunted Arizona Unit 27 for elk late season? Just trying to decide whether to start on top or below the rim.

Never hunted or stepped foot in 27 although I live in Arizona. I would think for the late bull tag to start below the rim as that would be winter ground for a lot of the elk in the unit. I think its rougher country and probably a bit more remote below the rim as well. It's a popular unit so you'll likely be looking for areas where most of the other hunters won't be.
I have a late bull tag in 6B an plan on scouting the canyon country first.

sheff, my family has a ranch in unit 27. i have been hunting it exclusively for years. i also drew the 27 late bull tag. shoot me a PM and we can talk.
