Can't believe its been 22 years since drawing my last limited entry elk tag in Utah. My oldest son was 2. My wife and I were still in college and our future was not set. Now, two kids are in college, a 3rd will be a senior in HS and our 4th starts HS this fall and I'm approaching 20 years at the firm that hired me out of college.
I've been on some good hunts since then. Buffalo and deer in Utah, elk, deer and antelope in Nevada, many antelope hunts in Wyoming and an elk hunt in grizzly bear country to name a few.
I can't wait to make good on this new opportunity. We will be packing in. I have my buddy from Nevada lined up with his mules and he's also drawn this area before and has some idea of where to go. Another buddy and I are making plans for a few backpack scouting trips in July, August and September to look around.
Here's wishing everyone luck in the draws and this fall. I for one will be putting in the time and miles to make something happen.
