Trouble gets a bird

My friend Steve came down from NoCal to hunt doves and brought three dogs. One is Trouble, 14 years old golden, nearly deaf and with pretty bad arthritis in his legs but still has the desire

we set up on a local waterhole

Steve downed abird on the other side of the fence, he helped Trouble through and indicated to "find it".

Trouble can't see very well so he wandered around some until he scented the bird ( just to the right of him on the ground)

Success

And brought to hand

He takes a rest from the heat in the car's shadow

This was the last day of the season. There is a chance that this may be his last retrieve and we are glad we got it on film.

Good job Trouble. My black lab cross Lena is going on thirteen and this will most likely be her last hunting season as she has a cancerous tumor on her neck. Although a little hard of hearing, she still motors around like she's three. I'm going to make sure we get in plenty of hunts this fall just in case.
