The Hunting Dog Thread

Great looking dogs everyone!

Here are a few older pics of Enzo. He is six now. I may have to search a little for some other pictures.

Here's my boy! He is two years older now and nearing the end...it will be a sad day but diabetes has taken the fight out of him.

Great looking labs!

Now that I find myself out of bird country and in want of a dog...i'm considering a lab again. I've looked at one litter. Handsome dogs but they must have been cross bread with a clydesdale...Male was over 100 lbs and the female was 80ish pounds...
If we go the Lab route, I hope to find a small version of 50-60 pounds.

T Bone, there is decent sage-grouse, dusky grouse, sharp-tailed grouse and chukar hunting around here. Although nothing even close to SD or ID, you could get some hunting in.

Great photos, guys.

T Bone, I'm with you, I like the small labs, and intentionally find small specimens of the breed, My black dog is about 62 lbs hunting weight, and he's much easier to handle in a canoe, boat, or small blind

Drake, when you're flyfishing, does your buddy handle the netting chores for you?

Finally found the photo of two of my favorite hunting companions

I woke Ol Abe up from in front of the return vent and showed him the pics....he thought highly of them and tried to sniff them to see if any were of the opposite sex and virgins like him. When I told him how far away you are, he gave me a disgusted look and went back to sleep.

Miley with here first duck at 7 months old last year. Last picture was today we got a limit of ruff grouse and home in time to watch Boise State. All were mature birds LOL ;) where is the tail feathers??, but all were taken in flight. Would have been done earlier if I would move my feet quicker and not try shooting all twisted around. I swear Miley is smiling in the last pic, she loves to get out.

Great pics everyone. And to the guy that wants a smaller sized lab, look towards the field trial dogs. They breed em for speed. My female is about 80 pounds and rock solid on all retrieving no matter what the weather conditions. My field trial male is about 60 pounds and all go. It's amazing what our dogs will do for us.

Congrats, it always makes me feel better the first time they bring one back.
