Here are some pictures of our spring bear hunts here in Montana. Me pointing to where we spotted the first bear of the spring. Nick with his bear. Me with mine. And then me packing mine out.
Instead of typing up much, I'll let the video do the talking. We didn't get my hunt on video. My fiancé and I went for an evening hunt near Missoula. I spotted one high up in an avalanche chute. My fiancé stayed and watched the bear from out glassing spot while I hiked through the thickest brush ever. When I got up there I couldn't see it, but I was probably only 50 yards from him. He walked out of the brush and I shot. He rolled but got back up, to my surprise. Hit him again and he was done. It was my first time breaking down a bear, and was beyond exhausted. So we didn't get out until 2 or 3 AM. We slept on the side of the steep mountain for a while with nothing but what we were wearing plus rain gear. Thankfully it was a decent night. My (now) wife doesn't want to go bear hunting with me again now, I'm not sure why.
Here is the link for our first trip out for the season, and then the last trip where my friend Nick had the tag after I'd filled mine.
