Got the boat out Saturday to make sure it was up for another season. Water temp was at 48 and we didn't catch anything. I hope my Wife can give me the next few weekends to look for sheds before we have to hit the lake again. :)

You got walleyes around there? Where at?

Abiquiu is about an hour away and we fish there most of the time. Here are a few pictures from past springs.

There are also walleye in Cochiti, Clayton, Conchas, Santa Rosa, Ute, Elephant Butte, Caballo, and Ft. Sumner. But Abiquiu is closest to me.

Oh crap, better hope Mrs. Fin doesn't see those. I have been informed that anything short of 20 days of walleye fishing this summer and my butt is in the sling.

Great fish and even better eats.

Nice!!! I finally had my first taste of walleye last fall. Almost as good as crappie;). My goal is to get my hands on a burbot this summer. Those stringers reminded me that Target has deep fryers on sale for $30.

When my wife and I first started dating she wanted to go fishing in August, I told her walleye season was over and I needed to start scouting for hunting. That lasted a couple years until one of my friends saw her in the store one fall and asked if we had been out walleye fishing. She told him "now way, walleye season is over". He laughed his a$$ off and she wanted to know what was so funny, I had some explaining to do when she got home and inquired about "walleye season". :)

Nice pics.

We just got back from the first open water season of the year here in Mn. Always fun to get back on the open water and try and jig up some fish. Slower year this year, biggest of the trip was just over 27. I'll post a pic. when I get them downloaded.

Just got back from Rainy River in MN went for 3 days we cuaght 195 walleye for the six of us in two boats, we also boated a 47" a 54" a 55" and a 58" stergon that was a good trip.

Fin,
Pick me up on the way. We could pack our turkey gear and whack a gobbler somewhere as well!!!

Klementsen, Birchdale, Manitou? Further down?

Thursday and Friday we put in at Frontier. Saturday we dropped over some shore ice at Vidas the river opened past Clementson that day

So many people were at the access @ Frontier Friday night I dropped my brother off to take the trailer up to Birchdale and I just headed up there with the boat, hardly anyone using that access.

I have a few pics from my phone I'll try and post tonight, my brother has most on his digital.

Fun, Fun.

Friday night in front of Vidas.

Little snow squall.

First fish of the trip within ten minutes of dropping the boat in. That's my brother, he had by far the most big fish on thursday, but he just can't get past the 26.5 mark.

My biggest of the trip just over 27, just big enough to tick my brother off. I was fortunate enough to catch the biggest last year too @ 29.5 life is good.

God, I miss that place in April. Between fishing walleyes on the Rainy, trapping spring beaver on the Deer River Line, and the fun of catching thousands of suckers (mink bait for the fall) by hand on the rocks below the Big Falls, I am not sure how a guy can have more fun in April.

Spring bear here in Montana soothes the soul for a couple weeks.

Great fish. Keep the pics coming.

WFG, from some of your pics it looks as if a boat's not necessary for spring-time? Is there decent shore access on some of those waters? Just moved to NM the end of January and haven't fished walleyes in about a year. I imagine cranks or live-bait both work? Thanks.

Nice pics and Fish!
Fin- you should bring the Wife over to Lake Roosevelt June 25/26 We are having a WWW (walleye wacking weekend) get together it will be fun. LIL

Good news guys, there are still walleyes in SD. Glad to see people are getting out, I barely made it through last winter. The cabin feaver almost got me!

Sorry not trying to take over your thread, but since you gave me the ok.
Here's Rainy in 2010 all the pictures i've posted are from my phone, for some reason I'm not allowed to bring our digital camera. Something about the video camera coming home inoperable during turkey season. I have no idea what she's talking about:D

2010 was our best year for numbers of big fish in a long time. The amount of fish over 25" was incredible last year and we were too early, it just kept getting better last year.

Biggest was 29.5, I couldn't help myself had to get a replica.
