Well the whole family is packed and loaded up to go to Manilla, UT! Going for about a week, give or take, to do some trophy lake trout fishing, hang out with two of my great friends, both of their wives and kids, and their parents. I know we plan to have a big family baseball game, fish from the shore, boat and kayaks and maybe hit lagoon on the way outta town! I re-spooled every real with 20lb braid and we have bought wayyyy too much tackle but better to be prepared! 😂 probably still don’t have the stuff they’ll bite on. I know my wife’s equally as interested in the bass fishing. My friends’ dad has been knocking the Macks dead off the boat down about 70’ and has sent a couple pics of some dandy fish; one 40+ lber but we’re hoping to still catch some quality fish from shore in the meantime. Anyone with experience, stories or advice at flaming gorge, I’d love for you to share them on here! I look forward to updating with pictures over the next week! Cheers! 🍻

Slow day of fishing today, we think the bright moon the last week hasn’t helped us. I was able to catch my very first laker, just a little baby half lb pup! Had 3 other hits on a spinner standing off the front of the boat while we were trolling behind but they all shook my line! It seemed no matter the speed i reeled, the amount of drag, or how hard or soft I set the hook them @*{!>[#¥<%ers still shook off before I could land them, or even identify them! The ladies are up next on the boat tomorrow, and us dads are gonna take the kids out early and do some shore fishing. In the meantime, we’re grilling burgers and sippin some shine.

Just drove past you, taking a long way around from Los Alamos to Newberg, OR. I became officially tired of mountain driving with my trailer today - almost got wiped out by a landslide in CO on our way to Green River, WY. Don't do it like that! Glad you are having a good time!

Great Lake. I grew up near there and the Gorge was where we spent most of our summers. We spent more time skiing then anything else. But did wet a hook every so often when you could keep bass. Every so often get a Kokanee.

Be careful for the afternoon thunderstorms. They tend to sneak up in you and can quickly make a mess of the lake.

Damn! Drive safe partner!
I definitely still prefer mountain driving over this desert looking landscape! But I sure love the water so a lake this size is a sight for sore eyes when you’re driving! Ha!

If you have time, go check out the southern end of the reservoir in Utah, down by the dam. It's pretty down there, and more mountous.

That’s where I’m at! Lucerne, Linwood bay

I looked at a map of the gorge after I sent that and I’m not even close to the dam from where I’m at near Linwood hahaha i thought I was at the southern most end but I did read about that area at the dam and I do wanna check that out!! Thanks for the advice bud!
