Pretty spoiled with Reserve & Quemado, NM nearby. Pretty much not too different than it's ever been...like 400 yrs.
Pie Town,NM is near home & well named.
Chama,Taos & SF up north.
Flag in AZ. Prescott,AZ used to be nice,but found.
Too many to name in the MT I knew in the 70's.

Seeley Lake. It doesn't suck to have a cabin up there. Water, moutains, rivers, creeks, lakes. Hunting opportunities, and the Bob nearby.

Dubois, WY is at the top of my list for places never been but would like to go. Passed through Waitsburg, WA a number of times over the years and it never changes. Nice, clean, neat little town. Nearby Dayton is nice as well. Blue Mountains to the south are nice but not over run with tourists.
All employment prospects remaining equal, I'd live in/around Saratoga, WY. My wife would like to be closer to Fort Collins though, so Laradise is more likely. It would beat the hell out of Cheyenne. I wouldn't mind Lewistown, MT (where my wife grew up), but she is not a fan.

Three forks mt, if I never moved from there I would have been just fine
Every summer I would go out on the job with dad across the west. He was a hot plant supervisor and we'd generally stay in motels in small towns. It was a pretty sweet way to grow up and i learned one thing: people across the west are generally good folks, so I vote for all of them.

I'm going to go with New Castle, WY.
1st they have a place called the Pizza Barn, but serves a Prime Rib that rivals anyone else's, anywhere.
2nd, there's Woody's grocery. 20ish cutie at the check out had absolutely NO qualms bending over to expose her wobble-wobbles any chance she got and made every effort she could to keep me talkin' while I was in the check-out line.
3rd, carefree deer blockin' traffic (traffic ?? in New Castle??) on Mainstreet at high Noon. Yeah they knew it was hunting season and could have cared less.
4th, I didn't meet one single person that showed themselves as a Freakin' idiot. Everyone was socially and intellectually astute. All were polite, all welcoming, and no one seemed to worried about what time of day it was, nor pressured to 'hurry' anything.
I'll be back, as soon as I can draw another 'Lope tag.

Grew up in Bowman and played down in that country a bit. Bet not many know where Camp Crook is located and betting only a couple here have even heard of it.

I wouldn't mind having my dad's old place on Swan Lake, but I couldn't afford it. I also first lived here 32 years ago. I don't like what Bozeman has become, but wherever I move to the residents will say "I should have been here ten years ago before it was ruined by folks like me." And in ten years I would also be saying the same thing. It is funny that they even say that about Dallas and Austin, Tx, which were insanely big (to me) 25 years ago and is a good segue to

I am surprised no one has brought up Craig, Colorado yet. They are about as hunter friendly as you can get and the town buzzes in the fall.
