CA B2 zone help?? Coming from NV and need some tips!!

My father grew up in Weed and I have family in Mt. Shasta City. As a young man my dad used to take me to the Stewart Springs area and around Lake Siskiyou. It's been about 12 yrs and things have changed alot. I just got back from a quick day hunt/scouting trip. I only saw a doe and a fawn crossing the road if that even counts. I drove the dirt roads all day long and where I couldn't get my truck, I walked. I sat and watched a couple areas for a few hours to no luck. I've heard that lake siskiyou is a great area and I remember as a young man seeing two very big bucks. Any help would be much appreciated since I had to cop up $400 to hunt in California. WOW!! I would never leave Nevada but's so hard to draw here, even as a local. To those of you that love to hunt, I don't care how I have to get the money or where I have to go-- Hunting is Priceless!!
