Colorado Unit 54
I'm sure others will comment but I would recommend tire chains as a must for the road back to soap creek. When it's dry good tires and 4wd is enough, but when it's raining that top layer is slick we chained up all 4 to get in! I know some guys tried to get in without chains and had to be pulled... -

Bow Sling
I've used the primos sling for years, but last year another guy in my group had the cabelas sling and i was very impressed by it. I like that it covers my string and cams, but the best part is it's quick to remove (unlike my old primos sling that had 2 straps and 3 buttons). -

Yes the same area, we saw this guy 5 days, but we had 3 other bear encounters. -
OnX maps cell phone vs GPS
Had lot's of luck, some good some bad... lol. we had several good encounters and one great one. I missed a herd bull up close on day 4. Misjudged my yardage, he was in front of the tree I had ranged at 35 and I judged him for 40..... he was standing at 27 and I shot over him. it all happens fast. -

I was in the area that you're going back during the last 10 days of archery. Feel free to pm me for details. We had several bear encounters and good action with Elk (except for 5 days of heavy winds mid hunt). We didn't seal the deal but had some solid opportunities. We were at 10,600ft -
OnX maps cell phone vs GPS
I used onx exclusively on my 11 days in the back country and couldn't be more pleased. Stayed in Airplane mode the whole time on my S8+. Battery life was great, after about 3 days I left my gps in camp (once I felt sure the phone would do what I needed). Best $30 I spent for the whole trip. I... -

Archery elk in the rain
In 2013 we had floods for 9 of the 11 days of our hunt. We had many encounters which ended with my dad's first archery bull. I think the rain helps keep the scent to a minimum and your approach quiet. -
Zodi showers at altitude
Getting the water source hung up head high helps with pressure too. -
Rain Gear - CO Archery Elk
I use gaiters every day to prevent wet pants, socks, boots. But I will say take the rain paints. On a hunt we had a few years back it flooded 9-11 days. We hunted each day, but it would have been tough without good rain gear. I recently upgraded my jacket for the just in case hunt.- N2MyWake

Kentucky Deadline Extended
There are claims that the numbers aren't holding at those marks, so I know they had UK do a flyover survey last month but I think the validity of that may be questioned. -
