You guys from montana have been giving me help on the bears for years and I appreciate it. Just wonder what the snow report this year has been. Been thinking about coming up a little earlier this year probably around the middle of may instead of the last week in may.

First year bear hunting... opening weekend too early to go out, with a chance of finding one, around the Bozeman area?

If any year would be good for bears on opening weekend, twould probably be this year. I haven't laid eyes on one yet but the terrain and snow levels are about what they were like in the middle of May last year.

Move and glass for about 30 minutes to an hour. If there's a bunch of sign I'd sit longer.

Friend saw a nice bear at ~5,000' (valley floor 3k') at least 10 days ago in SW MT. They are out, especially boars.
