Trying to plan next years hunts and came across a confusing unit. There's doe deer tags available for the unit, buy only on private land. There's an HMA comprised of several ranches that permit only harvesting of WT does on their land, no bucks. Does a private land only tag give you the right to harvest an animal on an HMA that has no public land within its borders?

The land is still private, so it could be, so long as the HMA is open for hunting that specific tag. You can look and see what it was open for this year, but keep in mind that HMAs that are currently enrolled and what they’re open for change from year to year sometimes.

This. But assuming nothing changes, the tag would be good for the HMA.

Good to know, thanks. The particular one I was looking at was open for doe WT deer/ pronghorn, cow elk and wolf tags only. I'll keep an eye on it for next year
