How hard do these get pressured?I'm from Pa where they have to plant more trees every year just to give all the hunters a place to stand behind, so I'm use to alot of hunters.Hopefully, in Wy. its not as bad.Just want to know what to expect if I decide to draw a tag and hunt a WIA.Found a couple I'm interested in hunting, but need to talk with the local game bio. first. Will I need to bring my own sage brush to hide behind, lol??

WY and PA do not belong in the same hunting sentence, ever? There is nothing eastern about western hunting. Leave all that behind, including the worries, and enjoy. I still laugh when I recall the so-called 'hunt'my brother was trapped into with some PA inlaws. He was like a caged animal trapped with a bunch of urban guys whose idea of hunting was booze and porn, mixed with wild shooting. Not suggesting all PA hunting is like that but he saw a lot of it going on around him.

I will be hunting antelope hopefully and the guy I talked to said plan on the public land to be busy for the first few days. So I figure roll into WY on the Monday after hunting starts instead of the Thursday before to skip being in the crowds. Now the cost to that might be lopes that are more jumpy, but I'm willing to take that risk vs. seeing a ton of orange pumpkins every where I go.

I will shed a little light here for you.I live in wisconsin any public land here will be crowded by this I mean on average 200 acres I will see 4-6 vehicles parked in the parking areas I figure on average there is 2 hunters per vehicle that is on average about 1 person every 20 acres, pretty crowded.I hunted in the bighorn mountains in 2000 wich is almost all public hunting and a hell of alot more than 200 acres I still ran into a couple guys it is unavoidable opening weekend anywhere I think but nothing compaired to your estern states.I to applied for antelope tages this fall in wyoming and plan on hunting public land.Being I didnt have any preference points my 2nd and 3rd choice picks are 100% draw odds.I sure these areas will be more packed than the bighorn MT hunt because the public areas are so much smaller but I cant imagine it is going to be as packed as wisconsin public hunting.I guess I will find out when I get there. The nice thing about wyoming is the seasons are split up wich might take some of the big rush out of units.I plan on hunting opening day no matter what.I will have 6 days to hunt.I whant to hunt the first weekend simply because I think areas with lots of pressure you best chances are the first few hours of season. Ask the question again around November and I might answer differnt.

My advice would be to go there and watch the antelope and see where they go to for a comfort zone when pushed for a few days, then hunt after the crowds leave. It works for me here where I hunt them.

Thats exactly how I hunted antelope last year too.I went to Wy. in archery and learned their habits when pressured. Then I went back for the 2nd week of rifle and scored minutes after shooting hours.I have a good idea on how to hunt pressured areas.Just want to have an idea of what to expect in these walk in areas.I'm SURE I'll run into hunters, but are they ridiculously overcrowded like here.I hunted an HMA last year which is different then walk in areas. Most of the HMAs restrict the amount of hunters for the opening week. The walk in areas don't have that.
Can someone let me know about the pressure on the walk in areas? Is there usually room to hunt or are you bumping into people all day? Will the parking areas be full like in the above picture?Just trying to get an idea of what to expect in these places
I've hunted out west enough to know theres a night and day difference from the east. This would be a 1st for me to be hunting a walk in area out on the plains for muleys. This is the one variable on the hunt that I have no idea about

The orange army about to head out for the morning's hunt...

OK...Where exactly was this taken? A walk-in area? This is kinda scarey this many people going out at the same time...
