When to update ONX maps in MT

I searched but could not find any info on this. When is the best time to update? I bought my Garmin Montana a couple years ago and got the update card half price as part of the promotion. I hunt mostly state and forest so have not updated it. The area we drew lope tags this year has a lot of block management. When does ONX maps update become current with block management for the year?

They updated the map in May. Click "learn more" the the changelog tab for the map update info.
