I moved to Utah over two years ago from Montana. Things are different here, but I have found some pretty good hunting. This is my second turkey here in two years, and one of my better birds overall. Took him on some moderately hunted public ground after sitting a roost they frequent for three mornings. Only saw hens and other hunters the first two mornings. The third morning, this bird and some others were pretty vocal. He took a face full of 5 shot about 5 minutes after flying down. Not a bad way to spend a few mornings.

Oddly enough, his other spur was broken, which was what I saw when I first walked up on him. I thought he might have been a young bird until I saw the other side and realized the one I first saw was simply broken.

Very nice. Looks like a young-un checked out daddy's bird. Welcome to Utah. We do have pretty good hunting if you work at it.
