Caribou Gear Tarp

The Ruger Project

Curious as to how it performed at the range. I have a the same rifle in 300wm that is ready for a new barrel and have been thinking about Shaw, are you happy with it?

Oh boy I have a soft spot for the Tang Safety!! That turned out really nice!!

Range report.

Load development so far with less than 60 rounds down the barrel. It’s looking promising!!

Rounds 100-105 down the tube. The accuracy is there but I wasn’t on my game today.

140 gr bullet with a 10 shot average velocity of 3181 fps.

I’ll take that any day of the week!! Hopefully it does the job next week on antelope and mule deer.

That’s great! Good looking buck, and I’m sure that it’s extra gratifying using the rifle and loads that you put so much time into

I really liked the 280 when I was looking over cartridge options. Lots of versatility with it
I have lady shooters in the house, so I'm torn between this and 6.5 PRC, which provides a great deal of bang for very little bite.

That’ll be rifle specific, the 2 6.5 prc’s I’ve shot both had some decent recoil. Neither one had a brake (don’t like the noise for me or surrounding people)

Nice thread, cool project, great buck! Congrats on a job well done. Thanks for sharing here.
