does anyone know about the steens mt unit in oregon for rifle

There was snow on the top of them this afternoon.....

hunt the south end. get way back on foot. not many deer in the unit anymore. that is why there are only 273tags.

there are no good units in oregon for muledeer. but if you hunt daylight to dark every day. with good knowledge of the unit you draw. there are some big bucks in every unit. the equally bad units are whitehorse,steens,beatys butte, wagontire, south juniper, owyhee, beulah, silvies, sumpter, ukiah, desolation, malhure river etc. big bucks will be tagged in all these units this fall, best you can do is scout, learn the unit, then get lucky while hunting hard.

my good buddy shot a monster buck in the Steens last year with his bow. Scored well over 200 inches. there are still some big ones there.

just seen a nice 170" plus mule deer in s e ore this weekend,best ive seen in 10 years of hunting.
