Southern colorado terrain during rut

Hey guys. This is my first yr and I'll be going to southern colorado the 3rd week of September. I'll be hunting both public and private lands. What kind of terrain should I be looking for during the rut? Thanks guys.

Depends on the unit. Google earth would be a good place to start.

I'll be in units 861 and 85. I've been all over on x maps and Google earth. Just didn't know what kind of terrain the elk prefer during the rut. That's what I'm wondering. Not what kind of terrain I'll encounter.
