My little honey hole produced again this year over a 3 1/2 day hunt. The packout was amazingly brutal (probably why I've only seen 1 other person in 6 years), but it was well worth it. He's a nice 5x6 that came in silent to a 30-minute calling session. 35 yard shot and a short track later, and we were busy boning him out for the pack out.

Good luck to everyone the rest of the year.

Your description of the hunt sounds very much the same as some successful turkey hunts. Congratulations on your string of successes.

Congratulations on a great bull. I have a new appreciation for DIY public land mountain elk hunters. It's not as easy as I thought, and "brutal" doesn't describe quite good enough. But the rewards are well worth it!
Congratulations again!

Here was the wallow he was taking a bath in. Part of a 3-tiered wallow that was getting a lot of activity.
