Pitchfork HMA

I am considering a left-over cow elk tag for unit 61 in Wyoming. Does anybody have experience on the Pitchfork or Meeteetse HMA's in that unit? This would be a late hunt most likely and I am just curious as to animal numbers etc.

Hunted it for pronghorn 3 years ago lots of access we where there in Sept so the elk where high, butts up to some good looking elk country

Well, I bought the permit, so I guess that I am definitely going! I will be going in January, which should be a real adventure if they get lots of snow. I am hoping that the mountains are buried and push the elk down low. There should be no bear issues that time of year, either.

I have relatives in Cody, so at least I will have a good (cheap) place to stay!
