I'm thinking of buyina a Bushmaster Varmiter (.223) and would like to know what scope I should put on it. It may see use in low light conditions, so I think I need optics that let in a lot of light.

i would skip the varminter, and save some money and get something something with a shorter barrel. you wont loose much. i had one and sold it, it didnt shoot any better the my 16" gun.

I have the short one and the long one, I like the short one better. Its a pre pre ban has a 5.5" brake and a 11.5 barrel its extreamly accurate, its not a flat top so a scope doesnt work worth a crap.
I like my short in heavy cover and low light.
