OYO in Colorado Unit 49

Last year I made a successful Unit 61 hunt and my Son accompanied me and was my "guide. This year it was my turn to accompany him in Unit 49 as he burned his PP's.

We saw 8 bulls before the 1st season opened which had us jacked up for sure, but hunting is hunting. It was the 3rd day before we ever saw hair after the opener.

Finally on the last day we got into animals. First, a bachelor group with 2 spikes and a 3X4. The wind was bad. Then a herd bull with cows. Did I mention the wind?

Then at 1:30, I spotted a lone 4X4 bull, Marty made a good shot, and the work began. The GPS indicated that we were 1.15 miles from the truck. Every elk that we saw during scouting and hunting was within 150 yards.
