Last year after many years of helping me on a pheasant shoot, putting the miles in stalking and helping. Time was right for my oldest to have a go for his first roe buck, in fact his first deer.
We stalked up a really nice valley where the roe come out in the evening.
We saw a nice six point roe buck but unable to get onto him, light was going and we spotted a fox the other side. So we stalked into around 150y and he made a good shot with the 06.
Then two weeks later we tried for the buck again.
We stalked into as close as we could using the cover we had.
Got it down to 170y.
His first roe buck and a very nice one for your first.
A friend of mine makes knives...
I have an idea he says. You got the empty cases that your lad shot the roe and fox.
Yep.
So he was making me a knife and he made my son one too. A very special knife with the two cases in the handle of the knife
