I'm thinking its time to build an AR.

Anyone using 6.5 Grendel for a WT gun?

The numbers looks interesting, but I would like some real world stories.

I use an AR to hunt with.. Mine is 5.56 though and works fine.. I'm picky about the shots I take but it works great with premium bullets.. I'm use it only in MI where shot distance and selection are on my terms..

I'm sure a Grendel would work out as well.. As with any rifle shot placement is key..

I think about getting a 6.5 Grendel every once in a while but I have a 223 and a 6.8mm SPC so I hesitate getting another round to reload for. The 6.8 and the 223 have both worked fine for my daughter and me on whitetails, and I have used the 6.8 on a couple of black bears.

My kids hunt mule deer with a Grendel in an AR platform. Super accurate, good ballistics out to 350 +/-, and almost zero felt recoil. It's not for everyone- but it works for us!

Yep, taken 2 wt, and 2 lopes in 2 years with it. Use 120gr ballistic tips, took 1 lope at 300yds with great performance of the bullet. Highly recommend for medium sized game

Lady on another forum has shot hers out to 1 mile, so the ballistics are there.
If i remember correctly, she's getting about 2,600fps with the 130gr Nosler RDF.

I'd have no problem taking a 6.5 G after deer. But, if legal, I'd just use a 223/5.56 with something like a 77gr TMK and go that route.
