Montana License Question

I had a question regarding fishing licenses in Montana, not sure if anyone else has run into this. I have been waiting to buy my fishing license in MT until March 1st so I can get a full year of use out of it. However, a fishing license is included with my Montana deer tag. Since the drawing for deer isn't for another month, if I put in for my MT deer tag will I still be covered for fishing this weekend in MT? To clarify I am not going limited entry deer, just the general tag.

Edit: I did my app a few days ago, but my license shows 3/1 starting date for AIS pass and Base hunting license. It does not show a fishing license in possession yet.

Answer is no, because you aren't assured a deer tag and until you draw you wont have a fishing license.

If you want to fish between now and when your tag is issued, you'll need to buy a fishing license.

Yeah, unless it is in your possession with a clearly marked date don't go fishing.
