Tikka .270WSM loaded with 130sst. The best part of this hunt was having my daughter with me. She could have shot a cow but did not feel comfortable taking the shot. She is nervous about wounding an animal. The elk were down hill about 95yrds with heavy timber between us. Had a very narrow window to shoot thru. When I saw this bull I told her he was mine. I was real proud of her, she smelled the elk before I did, was real quite, helped me quarter him and packed out about 30lbs of meat.

Yes... that is something to be jealous of! I've had my daughter along a lot on elk but we haven't connected on one yet together!! Wow! Congrats!

Thanks everyone! We never got into the elk during archery season when she was with me so it was a thrill to get this one with the rifle. We have a three day hunt in the Deer lodge NF coming up and will get a few other day hunts so I hope she will have another chance. Really nice here in MT that the kids can shoot a cow most anywhere.
