I found a Magpie that didn't want to go very far away, but didn't want to come out of the bushes far enough to get a clean picture... All well, maybe next time..

I notice your autofocus is setting itself to the twigs in front of the bird and therefore the bird is out of focus. Next time, find something the same distance away as the bird off to the side a little bit. Point at that and half-click your shutter to obtain focus. Hold it like that and return to pointing at the bird and then final click the shutter. Not only will the bird be in focus but the branches will be less noticable as well.
