Anyone on here from the Dallas/Ft Worth area... and do you hunt LBJ ? Bow season opener Sat... I found one spot last year that looked good but only saw does. Hope to get in there and see deer while not seeing any hunters.
wondering what if any luck anyone has had during archery season.

I have a buddy that Turkey hunted there and another who's family has land close by. There are a fair amount of deer for TX public land but it'll be Doe and yearly maybe 2.5 year old bucks. It is a fair meat hunting spot for it's proximity to Dallas. Lake Lewisville and Lake Ray Roberts hold some deer and hogs as well. You'll need specific Lake permits for those and they may be sold out already for this year. Archery will either be mandatory or your best bet on all these spots.

If you are looking for older age class bucks there are a few taken from Hagerman NWR which is a bow only area. You missed the app period this year and need to meet several bow specific requirements.
If you are willing to travel and spend a little extra you can also look at Southern and SE Oklahoma which is a better bet for bigger bucks and a lot more public land. Honobia and Three Rivers combine for over 300K acres which would give you plenty of space to stretch your legs...especially during archery. There were some guys that posted some really nice deer from that area last year.

Thanks for the info about OK...never thought of going there, will have to look it up.
