IDAHO Youth LIVE HUNT

Moosie, i was told you were just trying to slow yours down so I think you are a hell of a shot! They say you just have to get a bullet in one, no matter where!

Good Luck to the Bunch of ya! IB, will you be able to take your son also? Have a Great Hunt! John
Unfortunately he will have school and won't be able to go.

Bugler, you've alwas told me to pull the trigger on anything I want..... And for some reason, you even encoursge me on the forked horns ;) ;)

As far as getting Bugler to come with, IDB had some comunity service years ago and got stuck helping loosers in the comunity, and got stuck with me. What ever the reason, I do feel like I have a Lucky Rabbits foot in my Arsh when I'm out with him.

Now, if Little O can shoot better then me, (Which he can) and not try killing the buck starting in the ankle like I did my NM buck...... he'll do fine.

Whether it's a forked horn or a better buck, We'll have a good time as always FO SHO !

Updates on Saturday......
I'm sure we will find something to his liking. I know of a few bucks that I sure would like to find this year. One was a 34+" 180ish 3x3, another 190ish 5x6, and a really clean 180ish 4x4. I think anyone of these would be in trouble if they show themselves this year.

I have a college buddy that also drew the tag this year so hopefully we can find 2 smokers for these guys to shot.

BOING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing I dont' like about a hunt like this is the Expectations. I've talked in length with Little O about this and IDB and me have talked about it many times as well. 180" seems to be a Magic number people throw out in the Owyhees like they are all over standing next to the road. But in reality , he could shoot a 160" buck and none of his friends or him, would know the differeence and he's be stoked. I just hope we see a bigger buck then a smaller buck so we do't have to put that theory to the test :p ;)

I do hope it pushes over 180" so he can brag about shooting a bigger buck then his ol' man for years to come though.

I am Excited for him. I remember his first animal he took. It was a duck, and a female to book but it was an AWESOME day !!

Then we went to Texas and he ended up shooting a Coon:

Then last year a Doe Deer :

It's always amaising to see the growth around the 10-16 mark. And He's just 13 this year. I'm guessing all the Cross Country training he did for his School made him grow a little ?!?!

I like your attitude Oscar. You are bringing him up hunting the right way...even if you are the only family I know that shoots coons and giraffes! ;)

We both couldn't sleep last night. We were going up scouting today. So even though we were leaving at 5AM, we hopped onto Hunttalk at Midnight to look at some bucks :

The front room was covered in camp and gear.

We were told a place to go to but in the dark missed it. So we found our own place to scout and saw some deer right off the road.

I tried finding deer and pointing out the general area to O-Town so he could learn how to find them. We had plenty of chances for him to find deer today.

Here is a spindly 4 point. I tried taking pictures but need to work on zooming in through the scope. You can hardly tell it's a buck. I have no idea how you guys take those great pictures through scopes.

It was a great day. Unfortunately I'm sicker then a dog and was hacking and coughing up the hill. My voice is almost gone this evening. Hopefully with one days rest tomorrow Monday will get me back to 100% again..... or at least not feel like a train hit me. Either way, I'll be out in the cold helping my son find a bucky !!!
