Just flung a bolt at a grouse. Not only did the grouse get away unscathed but so did the elk I was too grouse hypnotized to notice 30 yards away. Luckily there's 1 bar of reception so I can share my shame.

Didn't recover the bolt. I need to hit the gym because my rock barrage was pitiful.

Now that I have the pistol there's no grouse in sight.

The only thing worse than bumping elk is not seeing any elk.

And I see so many grouse when I have the bow without getting a shot off and when I go back to the same area with a shotgun and dog they are nowhere to be found.

I'm about to try for grouse with my recurve for the first time as soon as the husband unit gets off the damn phone (dealing with a @&$@ trespasser) . (Not in our elk unit, elk is 17-27).

And, yes, I'm extremely lucky to spend the day in beautiful weather in beautiful country bumbling around the mountains. Self-deprecating humor is how I cope with the cavalcade of errors and blunders that is my hunting season.
