I have been out to the Badlands four weekends since the snow has come off shed hunting, looking over new country, checking up on some honey holes to gather new information and putting out game cameras. The mule deer sufferred some significant winterkill to the north of where I hunt, but in my main area they look extremely healthy. There was good moisture over the winter and some rain this spring making everything very lush and green which is rare for western ND. The bucks are starting to sprout some horns and a few I didn't get pics of have some potential. I will post a few pics and hope to have more soon.

I forgot to mention I went scouting with "Grizzly" from Hunt Talk and a few of the pics are his. Also, while walking across the prairie I noticed two dung beetles! I honestly didn't even know they existed around here. It was interesting watching them work together. The bigger beetle turned upside down and pushed with his back legs and the smaller one always stayed on the ball moving where needed to act as a counterweight! Heck humans don't usually work that well together!! Odd topic I know. Don't give me a bunch of crap (pun intended)!

Toad

In a month or so I hope those buck will turn to TOADS! You know what I mean! Now I need to get back to my maps so I can figure out how to get within 70 yards of the beast!

It will be fun to see how much antler growth they have by the end of June. We will also be able to check trail cams then as well. Get back to the maps!!
