Cwd

CWD is no joke

I highly recommend people do actual research outside of a simple google search which could turn up articles supporting just about any theory to ever exist. Meat Eater had a great podcast last week with a wildlife biologist who is an expert in the field of animal disease and his knowledge on this subject will blow your mind. CWD has NOT been around for a significantly long time because if it had, as he points out, we would have seen Darwinism take place and those deer with immunity to CWD repopulate more. Just like mad cow disease, it took a while for people to start contracting the disease after eating contaminated meat, but it DID eventually happen. Anyone who doesn't test their meat, or tests it and ignores the results, and eats it is a fool. Even a .01% chance of catching this thing is not worth it. Everyone do you part and dispose of animal remains properly (this biologist recommends landfills or burying the remains deep underground where animals cant reach it), especially in species and areas with a higher % of disease prevalence. We, as hunters, have a moral responsibility to take this seriously. To discount it because there are other worse things out there or because no one's ever died from it is beyond idiotic and irresponsible. By that logic, let's all ride without seat belts because we have a better chance of dying via cancer.
