Black Prairie Dogs

Saw these odd colored whitetailed prairie dogs the other day. Has anyone seen a black prairie dog before?

Never seen them before we do see black squirrels here from time to time.

Oh yeah, those are pretty common in areas with oil in the ground. Their tunnels are so deep their fur gets soaked in the crude and turns em black. Cool critters. Thanks for sharing the pics.

I was thinking of a recessive gene.

Oil soaked fur works for me.
