Some giant critters in here, great thread! .

(2010) 37.5 x 13-3/4. Awesome hunt again. Left my partner in camp to defend a grizzly carcass, trekked 7 miles up a drainage to kill this guy, spent the night on the mountain and was back by lunch time the following day.

(2003) Colorado muley. Gross 209. This is my most favorite trophy/hunt... Solo hunt, left over tag, cold weather, big bulls, lots of deer... fun fun hunt.

My biggest 'lope, killed in Wyoming in 2009 with a .270 Win. Shot was maybe 100 yards? Scored around 81" gross green, official net of 79". Big mass, average prongs and length.

This one falls in the "blind squirrel finds a nut" category. SW Montana, May 2009. A big, dumb, chocolate bear walks out in front of me and Lawnboy, about 800 yards off.

Lawnboy politely gives me the first shot. 180 yards. .270 Win with 140 grain. Bear takes one in the sternum as he turns and faces us. He runs and a second round behind the front shoulder puts him in cartwheel mode. No further shots necessary.

Greenhorn came up with a 19" skull, which the serious MT bear hunters tell me is a good one for around here. Not sure what he squares, but well over 6'. Even as a pelt, he makes it over 6'. The coat is amazingly thick. The hide quality and the meat taste (bad) makes me think he was out of the den only a few days prior to the shot.

Best bear I've shot...1995, same year I killed my Dall Sheep. Dad and I went for a quick morning elk hunt and didnt find any elk. I was driving down the road heading out to the highway and looked across a big draw and saw something peculiar on a large rock outcropping. I drove down the road for about 100 yards and told Dad I needed to turn around as something didnt look quite right. I got back there and pulled out my spotting scope, a bear was laying on the rock outcrop sunning himself. I crossed the draw and couldnt find the right rock outcrop. Hiked back across and found the right rock, he was still just laying there. Went back across and shot him from about 80 yards with a 338. Pure luck, absolutely no skill involved.

Never have measured the skull or the rug, so have no idea of that. IIRC, he was 6.5 years old. Great color and a good hide for sure.

Score? Very nice buck!

No clue, never put a tape to him.

Wish I had better pictures, he was a really cool buck. Perfectly symmetrical with split brow-tines. I was by myself and hadn't figured out my self timer, it was a new camera and I'm technologically challenged (all known as a dumbazz).

Thanks for the compliment, some tremendous animals on this thread!

Later on in 1995, shot my first and only shiras moose in Montana. I picked the unit with the worst draw odds in the Big Hole valley as I didnt want to draw, knowing I'd burn my vacation hunting sheep in AK. Sure as heck, plucked a late any moose permit. Shot this one right before thanksgiving and some of the bulls had already shed. Dumb tag to even put in for, just getting around down there was tough with the snow and all. I should have probably waited, but finally settled for this one as it had BOTH antlers still. Not much of a bull, but he was a great eating moose for sure.

A not so good pic of my pronghorn.

2005 Arizona.
300WSM
65yd shot

as is scores 76 7/8, if the broken prong matched the whole prong, just under 80.

One and only whitetail, shot in Montana in 2009 while hunting with Big Fin. Shot with a .300 Wby at maybe 150 yards?

One and only mountain goat, shot in Montana in 1998 north of Yellowstone Park. Dont know what he scores, never scored it, but I do know it was 9" even when I checked it with the MTFWP. Shot it with a 338 in his bed at 50 yards.
