A huntin' I shall go UPDATED

Steens were tough. 18.3 miles first day and not single deer. 7.4 miles second day. Lots of elk, no deer, from river to top of Aspens and 2 gorges. 4th day ended up with a small 4 point. It was only the second deer in all the camp grounds. I am sure in next few days with weather coming it may turn up a few more. Good luck to everyone.

Yes and they keep adding more tags with no antler point restrictions. I cashed in all my points just to hunt. Always wanted to as a kid as I always enjoyed reading all the stories and seeing monster buck pictures.. At one time it was one of the better Mule deer units in the country. I knew it had changed but wanted to see it at least one time before I couldn't.
Congrats, I remember when the Steens were full of deer and sheep and the elk had just started to populate the southwest canyons. From your recap, times have changed
