Help me trick out a Remington Ultimate 700 muzzleloader

I have had no issue with BH 209 in mine. Shoots great, 130 grains volume with Federal Bor Loc. I think the problems with Black Horn 209 have been exaggerated.

    First Time CO Elk hunt

I'm not being a wiseguy. I have hunted OTC 2nd season and a no point 1st rifle. Maybe Ive been lucky. If I see horse trailers I move on. From what I've seen most guys barely get off their ATV's.

    First Time CO Elk hunt

I have never seen a hunter a 1/2 mile from the trailhead. I have only been twice. Find a mountain with no 4 wheeler access and you might be surprised how lonely it is at the top. In my limited experience (not unit 12) most guys break camp and head home the third morning.

    Elk quarter weights

Come on I get at least 700 lbs. of meat on my little raghorns. LOL. Whatever it weighs it's worth a few extra minutes a quarter to bone it out in my opinion. No sense in humping bones down the mountain.

Thanks guys, I will look into 40 and 49. Going DIY. Approximately what would an access fee in 40 run? Thanks!

    9 CO preference points

Hi guys, I have 9 Colorado Elk P.P. From what I gather I may as well spend them due to point creep??? I am open to any weapon. The very helpful CO hunt planner suggests muzzleloader unit 4 or 12 or 33. 33 allows some access to 23-24 as well. I'm happy with an opportunity on a bull hopefully...

The book "Elk Hunting Montana" by Jack Ballard

Hey guys, this book was published in 2007. Is most of the info still relevant due to wolves, wildfires etc? I am basing most of my decisions on it and the Montana Hunt Planner. Any feedback is appreciated. Best Josh
