Hungry Farmer in Colorado Springs Got some bad news about the Hungry Farmer in Colorado Springs. It isn't there anymore. It was closed for a while, got remodeled and has just reopened under a new name. Can't remember it off hand but it is just about 4 miles from my house. All the advice you...

I was walking home from 3rd grade at Bellair Elementary School in Clearwater Fla. An older kid came out of his house and told us the president was shot. A little girl I was walking with said "With a gun?" and first kid said "No a posion dart! You Dumbass M@#$%^ F@#$^&*" I remember it like it...

    Drop Camps

I am doing my first drop camp this year for second rifle season in GMU 12. I'll post a report on it after the season. This camp brings you in and out on horseback but they don't leave the horses with you during the hunt. In my case that is probably a good things as I am not an experienced horse...

    Do mulies migrate?

Last year while elk hunting, I was astounded at the number and quality of the mule deer I saw. They were big and they were plentiful. Of course it was late elk season (early December) and deer season was over. Are these same mulies likely to be in same area in October and November when it is...

    seating depth for .300 WinMag

Thanks to all for the information and opinions. I know that 1.75 is plenty good for hunting. But this rifle is glass bedded, free floated and has had a trigger job. All done before I bought it. I really want to understand and get as close to the potential of this rifle as possible and I just...

    seating depth for .300 WinMag

I am currently seating the bullet so that I am at Max Overall Length as per the the Speer manual. I have played with powder & charge weight and still 1.5 moa is the best I can do. I guess I don't understand why seating close to the lands on my .270 made such a huge difference in accuracy...

    seating depth for .300 WinMag

When I was handloading for my .270 I seated the bullet barely off the lands and they worked really well. Now I am reloading for my new .300 WinMag. I have made and fired some test loads and am getting marginal accuracy (1.75" @ 100) so far. My best load so far is: Federal brass,180 gr. Nosler...

Best coat in Spring or Fall

I am planning a black bear hunt in SE Alaska near Petersburg for next year. I was wondering if the fur is best in the spring or the fall. I guess the trade off will be spring bear&king salmon or fall bear&silver salmon depending on when the fur is the best. Also I will be doing spot & stalk...

    Co. deer hunt

Almont, CO While Elk hunting during late cow only season I saw LOTS of mule deer in the area of Almont, CO. (GMU54 or 55) There is a state wildlife area right at Almont with some real wallhangers. I think it is a tough draw though. Good Luck!
