    Idaho Unit 44 Antlered Bull

I changed my application strategy at the last second from an archery controlled unit to a rifle tag and wildly drew a bull tag in unit 44. Now I am not asking for honey holes or anything like that I was just asking for any help on how to go after this unit. Is later better or have elk already...

Swarovski EL 10x42 Binos For Sale

I am selling my Swarovski EL 10x42 binos. Lenses are in great shape with no scratches or wear. I bought them last summer for a special elk tag I drew and in the process I realized I really want the EL Range version. These have a K85 serial number, so they were produced in 2015. They have...

410-20 elk couple needs info help

I drew this last year and joined the same way as you did and got the same unwelcoming response but helped out and talked to a lot of guys thru PMs. My take on it yes 280 310 bulls ARE A dime a dozen. I set my expectations way too high, this isn't the unit it used to be for big bulls. You...

    Elk .... Let's see them!!!

Montana Unit 410, awesome hunt saw so many bull elk that it was more like a shopping trip for a bull. Great unit, beautiful country, lots of people and this year almost too warm to feel good when I had him down.

    Heading to the breaks 410-420

It's hot! Elk rent acting normal. Seems like the are out for a few minutes early and hole up for the day in timbered coulee. Lots of elk and serious hold out on deer there will be some good ones coming out of no where soon Good luck!

    Heading to the breaks 410-420

I'm in Winnett right now with same tag, we'll not any more. Shot a 330-340 bull this morning. I saw bigger but they are camped out on private. Had a high 360 in the dark walk from private to private in front of the truck. Great area, there are elk are balled up on private in some areas...

Fun Outting with my Step Daughter

Aren't kids the best and as someone said and as OregonChris's pic shows kids can sleep anywhere and be knocked out for hours. It is really funny I sent Savanah some pictures of two bull elk threw my spotting scope I saw last night. She asked if I shot one and I replied simply "no" her response...

Fun Outting with my Step Daughter

I was lucky enough to spend a successful Saturday with my step daughter, today is her 10th birthday and all she wanted for her birthday was go down to the ranch with me and help me fill my tag. She was up and ready to roll out of the house at 430 and chattered the entire 2 hour drive. She...

    Rocky Mountain Front Late Season

The game check station in Augusta is staffed with some absolutely first class people. Stop in there see where elk are getting shot and ask their opinions. There is always Haystack Butte, I'm not giving a secret spot away by any means but there's a decent amount of state there and they elk may...

    Rocky Mountain Front Late Season

Lots of hunters, lots of wind. Some big bulls come out but so much of the front is private ground or special permit WMA's it's hard to hunt. If there's no snow in the back country the hunting is really slow. Beautiful area and the chance of a giant but opportunities are limited.... and get...

Drew a 110-50 Moose tag, any knowleagable advice to share?

Good area, actually a huge area. Used to spend a lot of time in the Northfork but the predators up there are so thick the mule deer and elk numbers dropped so I started spending less and less time up there. Lots of bears, cats and wolves in the Northfork so the animals aren't exactly where you...

Firsst time? Is elk hunting worth the $ to go????

Elk hunting is worth every penny! I can honestly say that living here in Montana I am blessed. I am able to hunt legal bulls on a general tag every season and if I can draw a cow tag I am also able to take a cow. I know that every fall I start by chasing bugling bulls with my favorite bow and...
