My hunting rifles
Cabelas has a heck of a sale on the 2-10 Vortex Razor HD LH right now. That scope is a much better optic than any Leupold below the VX5 HD line. Their 1.5-8X32 is also a sweet scope. I like Leupold scopes, but their glass in the VX2 and VX3i lines lags the competition at the same price point... -

Seek Outside Pack Question
I have the Revolution frame with a couple of different bags. All of the bags for the Revolution frame allow a load between the bag and frame. None of the Unaweep frame/bag combos do this. For what its worth, my guide in Alaska carried a custom 1911 in 10mm. He has other options, but shoots that one very well so it gets the nod when a handgun is in order. This is on non-brown bear hunts where a pissed off bear is possible, but a pissed off bear is not expected. That said... -

30-06. You don't have to shoot heavy ammo in it for deer. Shoot 130gr loads and enjoy it. In the future, should you want/need to go up to a 180 or even 200, at least you could. That said, if you never plan to shoot the big bears, the 7mm will do everything else just fine. Jeremy -

lead sled or sandbags?
Lead sled or equivalent is my go to. I rarely take less than 3 rifles and at least one is usually a hard kicker. Sand bags work fine as well, but 60-70 rounds of .300 Win and .340 Weatherby into a range day wears me out without a sled. None of my rifles wear a brake. Jeremy -

It is a tradeoff. Either sex could mean more pressure, but it also means generally higher elk numbers. Otherwise, it would be limited quota on cows. The bigger factor is to look at the units you like and see if the elk can take refuge on private land. Higher elk numbers aren't that way...
