    New Mexico Unit 51 or 52

    Hunted 52 last year. Lots of elk but nothing over a small five point. The unit is basically a giant volcano. Most of the hunting is down and you will enjoy long hikes up out in the dark. You can get some awesome glassing in though. Not a unit I would go back to.

    Would only work for a year or two while everyone figured out just how much private is in that unit. I wouldn't want to be that warden during the first year of a general free for all.

    Plenty of elk off 34 on private. You can occasionally catch them on public. Laramie side of the hill is pretty much snowed the hell in. You won’t get to Mule Creek or Mcfarlene.
