Toby Keith, country music superstar and Oklahoma native, dies at 62

Oklahoma native and country music superstar Toby Keith has died at the age of 62 after a battle with stomach cancer.

He passed last night at his home after a long battle with stomach cancer. Heaven gained a fine American last night.

Saw him in 2009 when the USO tour came by Kandahar during the short time I was there. He put on a solid show for us!

He took an awful lot of his time and risk to support troops.

The refreshing about Toby is he never appeared to be in for the fame. Didn't like award shows, didn't see him much in TV, etc. He just enjoyed written damn good music and playing it

“We’ll put a boot in your ass. It’s the American way.” I remember how some criticized him for that song, but man, did it make us red blooded Americans feel patriotic. I bet the troops went wild when he sang that one. RIP Mr Keith.
