Thanks for the replies chaps.
A bit more information, looks like my panic is over, turns out it is carrier specific, basically Luthansa and Quatar airlines did not renew their licence to carry firearms when flying out of Heathrow airport, but there have still been a lot of upset people arriving for their flights and then being told they can't travel with a firearm.
One other thing, If any of you decide to fly using British Airways to carry your firearm think again, they charge, £50 for the rifle, £50 for the ammunition, and £50 admin fee, each way!
Rough conversion to USD=$200 each way!
