Started researching an early rifle hunt for elk and deer for 2017. Several reasons, we have a farm and the timing is better, chance to hunt bugling bulls with a rifle, and most importantly for me, a chance to get way back in there. So, as i am researching the areas in MT it appears like a very low success rate. Even some of the guides were sort of saying to look elsewhere, chances were very slim and 316 sees a good deal of pressure, while the "bob" is just very low population density. As i look at Idaho's early rifle units it seems as though there is a good 10-15% more success rate than in the MT units. Can anyone confirm or deny? Thoughts? Recommendations?
